No one likes feeling under pressure because of a looming deadline. Particularly when it comes to implementing new systems, the more time that you can commit to a project, the better it will be. One such deadline which is now firmly on the horizon, is the switch-off of the UK’s ISDN telephone network.
Ignorance is bliss?
In the same way that analogue TV signals were switched off almost a decade ago, the same will soon take place in the world of telephony. In 2025 BT will switch off the traditional ISDN network and such services will be replaced by more modern and cost-effective IP Voice services. But it’s not just the 2025 deadline that is encouraging businesses to switch.
Adoption of IP Voice services (i.e. SIP Trunks and Hosted Voice) is on the upward curve
45% of UK businesses have already adopted IP Voice services (Cavell - SIP and IP Trunking Market Report & Forecast 2016) and adoption rates are increasing each year.
We recently carried out a study, in partnership with Censuswide, surveying 1,000 UK decision makers looking into their motivations for switching to IP Voice services. Our research confirmed Cavell’s adoption findings but also demonstrated there is an attractive business case to switch. We found 96% of those businesses who had adopted are making cost savings as well as benefitting from the ability to implement robust business continuity plans.
